It is God who sanctifies His people. Our participation in the process of our sanctification is the result of God’s work in us, giving us both the will and the ability to please Him. The efficacy of Christ’s cross and resurrection, applied to our hearts by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, guarantees that our sanctification will be fully and finally complete when our Lord returns.
